IAN'S WAIVER WIRE PICKUP - WEEK 12

Gus Edwards- Baltimore Ravens RB

Last week, the Baltimore Ravens had the most crowded backfield in the NFL. This week, it is all Gus Edwards and Lamar Jackson. Lamar Jackson is the better runner in that backfield, but Gus Edwards should see near 100% of the backfield snaps. I am going to make the same argument I made for Duke Johnson in that Gus is a good pickup for volume alone. This week is more of a stash week since they are going against the Steelers, but after this week, I have discussed extensively on the podcast how favorable the final few games on the schedule are for the Ravens. Just for the sake of being thorough, I will mention it again here: Pittsburgh, Dallas, Cleveland, Jacksonville, and the Giants. That is a cake walk for a team that was another favorite to be in the AFC championship this year. Hopefully, we see Lamar at least somewhat look close to what he was last year, and if we do, he will take a lot of focus from the defense, allowing Gus to get a lot of solid work. J.K. Dobbins and Mark Ingram both tested positive for COVID, so at minimum, they are out for this Thursday night game. Most likely, they are out for the next game against Dallas. Gus needs to be owned, and being rostered in only 14% of ESPN leagues, you should be able to get him. If you are fearful to start him this week, which is reasonable, he needs be stashed and immediately plugged in for however long the others are out for.
