AARON'S MOST INTRIGUING MATCHUP

Los Angeles Chargers @ Miami Dolphins

Looking back at the 2019 NFL draft will be one that both Chargers fans (yes there are still some left) and Dolphins fans will hopefully remember for the next 10 years with joy. I know we have a limited sample size with Justin Herbert playing in 7 games thus far and an even smaller one with Tua Tagovailoa playing in 2 games, but to this point they have impressed. Herbert is on pace to shatter both the rookie passing yard record and passing TD record despite not stating the 1st game. Tua, in his limited opportunities, has shown the accuracy and mobility that led to the hype that had him as the top QB prospect prior to his hip injury in his final collegiate season. However, the seasons for these 2 players could not be producing more different results. The Chargers have been blowing leads on a seemingly weekly basis which has led them to a 2-6 record while the Dolphins have been the surprise of the AFC and quite possibly the NFL with a 5-3 record. This matchup is a great reminder that talent and production needs to be a balanced effort, and in today’s NFL, there is a need for great play on both sides of the ball. The Dolphin's defense has shown that they are nothing to be scoffed at, and I think that this will be the first week we see Herbert truly struggle. The soft Chargers defense should be a great matchup for Tua, and while he may not put up gaudy numbers, he seems to already have the veteran presence of knowing when to push the gas pedal and when to put it in cruise control. I'm excited to see what this matchup brings us and what it hopefully brings us for many years.
