Week 17 Fantasy Finals Waiver Wire Picks

Every Tuesday, I will be bringing to light the best potential waiver wire additions across fantasy football. Let’s begin with some basic principles for each article and some of the qualifiers that will be used each week. First off, the minimum rostered percentage threshold that I will be using is 70%, so any player that is rostered in ESPN leagues above that percentage will not be written about (until near the end of the season when it gets harder to wade through the constantly thinning waiver wire.) Second, not all waiver wire additions are created equal and all are dependent on the roster you have. Each week I will be writing about players and the potential they bring to your fantasy roster, but I obviously don’t know who is on your team or what you may need in terms of roster construction. If I say a quarterback is the top waiver wire addition for the week, and you have Patrick Mahomes, that doesn’t mean you need to add that player to your team while dropping a potentially valuable player in order to do so. Third, I will frequently be using the abbreviation FAAB, which refers to Free Agent Acquisition Budget. This refers to the potential amount you might spend to acquire someone off the waiver wire if your league has that as a part of their system.

Jared Goff- Quarterback, DET

ESPN Roster Percentage- 53.7%

Look, it may not always be pretty but Jared Goff has been getting it done this year. I think the hot streak continues this week. Goff is the QB #10 on the year, yet is rostered in just above half of ESPN leagues. Goff has been averaging just under 17 fantasy ppg and gets a great matchup in the Bears defense that will benefit by losing their remaining games to better their draft pick. Goff has been reliable all year against bad defenses and I think that he will be a great start for championship games.

Tyler Allgeier- Running Back- ATL

ESPN Roster Percentage- 39.2%

I said it last week that Allgeier needed to be added, and he showed out in Week 16 scoring 15.7 fantasy points. Allgeier gets the plus matchup of the Cardinals defense that just allowed 115 rushing yards to a struggling Bucs team. Allgeier dominated the rushing workload with 18 carries, 10 more than any other Falcon, and was able to turn them into 74 yards while getting 43 receiving yards. Allgeier has looked like the better back in the 2nd half of the season and could be a fantasy playoff hero for your team.
