Aaron's Must Have Week 7 Waiver Wire Picks
Every Tuesday, I will be bringing to light the best potential waiver wire additions across fantasy football. Let’s begin with some basic principles for each article and some of the qualifiers that will be used each week. First off, the minimum rostered percentage threshold that I will be using is 50%, so any player that is rostered in ESPN leagues above that percentage will not be written about (until near the end of the season when it gets harder to wade through the constantly thinning waiver wire.) Second, not all waiver wire additions are created equal and all are dependent on the roster you have. Each week I will be writing about players and the potential they bring to your fantasy roster, but I obviously don’t know who is on your team or what you may need in terms of roster construction. If I say a quarterback is the top waiver wire addition for the week, and you have Patrick Mahomes, that doesn’t mean you need to add that player to your team while dropping a potentially valuable player in order to do so. Third, I will frequently be using the abbreviation FAAB, which refers to Free Agent Acquisition Budget. This refers to the potential amount you might spend to acquire someone off the waiver wire if your league has that as a part of their system.
Brian Robinson Jr.- Running Back, WAS
ESPN Roster Percentage- 50.2%
Despite the absolutely ugly Thursday night game, we did get to witness the new workhorse back for the Washington Commanders. Brian Robinson Jr. was the leading man and had the majority of the team’s rushing attempts with 17, resulting in 60 yards and a TD. While it’s not much to write home about, it does establish a clear hierarchy of what to hopefully expect moving forward for Robinson’s fantasy value. The only concerning piece of Robinson’s stat line is that he had no involvement in the passing game, and that doesn’t seem like it will get better with the news of Carson Wentz’s finger surgery leading to the possibility he misses multiple games. Robinson is worth a top end waiver wire priority and a 20% FAAB bid.
Alec Pierce- Wide Receiver, IND
ESPN Roster Percentage- 25.3%
This is about the time in the season that we start to see rookies settle into their roles, and it’s a good look for Alec Pierce. The Colts’ 2nd round rookie has quietly put together 3 consecutive 12+ point games and has done it in a multitude of ways. He had a game with 4 receptions and 80 yards, 8 receptions and 81 yards and then this last week he was 3 for 49 and a TD. A fully healthy Michael Pittman Jr. will definitely limit Pierce’s ceiling but allows for the Colts to actually open up the passing game. Part of the high usage over the last two weeks is clearly a result of the Jonathan Taylor injury and is something that will be limited when Taylor returns. However, Pierce will still have a clear role as the #2 receiver. Pierce is worth a mid-level waiver wire priority and a 5% FAAB bid.
