Aaron's Must Have Week 6 Waiver Wire Picks
Every Tuesday, I will be bringing to light the best potential waiver wire additions across fantasy football. Let’s begin with some basic principles for each article and some of the qualifiers that will be used each week. First off, the minimum rostered percentage threshold that I will be using is 50%, so any player that is rostered in ESPN leagues above that percentage will not be written about (until near the end of the season when it gets harder to wade through the constantly thinning waiver wire.) Second, not all waiver wire additions are created equal and all are dependent on the roster you have. Each week I will be writing about players and the potential they bring to your fantasy roster, but I obviously don’t know who is on your team or what you may need in terms of roster construction. If I say a quarterback is the top waiver wire addition for the week, and you have Patrick Mahomes, that doesn’t mean you need to add that player to your team while dropping a potentially valuable player in order to do so. Third, I will frequently be using the abbreviation FAAB, which refers to Free Agent Acquisition Budget. This refers to the potential amount you might spend to acquire someone off the waiver wire if your league has that as a part of their system.
Kenneth Walker III- Running Back, SEA
ESPN Roster Percentage- 47.5%
Another week and another stud running back injury leads the way for my top waiver wire pick up. Rashaad Penny suffered a fractured fibula during the Week 5 game and will likely be out the remainder of the season. Walker stepped in and showed out with 8 carries for 88 yards and a TD, including a 69-yard TD run. He is the clear next man up, and as we all know about Pete Carroll’s offense, he likes to run the ball with it usually being one guy that carries the majority of the load. Walker was drafted as the next guy up in Seattle with Penny going into the last year of his contract, and this will just smooth out that transition. Walker III is worth the top waiver wire priority add and at least a 60% FAAB bid.
Isaiah McKenzie- Wide Receiver, BUF
ESPN Roster Percentage- 26.3%
Isaiah McKenzie missed the Week 5 game with a concussion and the Bills offense didn’t miss a beat, but that doesn’t scare me one bit. McKenzie has scored a TD in 3 of 4 games this year and saw 15 targets over his last 2 games. He is the clear #3 receiving option on the team but with an offense that is currently averaging nearly 40 pass attempts a game, there’s plenty to go around. If McKenzie is healthy for their Week 6 game against Kansas City, he should be a smash start in a game that would appear to be a high scoring affair. He isn’t worth a high priority add and is someone I would check on once waivers have run to save that top priority.
