Ian's Week 3 DFS Fanduel Value Picks
Let me go over some important information so you are fully aware of what this article’s purpose is. We use Fanduel for our daily fantasy plays; Draft Kings will be close to this information but could be different. Fanduel gives every person a budget of $60,000 for 9 total roster spots, 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex, and 1 D/ST. This leads you to an average of $6,667 per roster spot.
In this article, I will be giving you 1 player from each position that I believe is the best value of the week. I will do my best to keep it under $6700, except QB. The main purpose is to not pick every single guy from this list for your team; I don't think that would be an optimal team. These players will save you money so you can go get the high priced players you really want somewhere else. I will also sometimes offer a more expensive option if I believe they could also work. Week 2 was a bombshell so be prepared always.
QB
Most Expensive: Josh Allen $9,000
My Pick: Jared Goff $7,100
Oooooooooo this is a risky pick and I'm really riding Ryan’s guarantee. This game has all the opportunity to be a shootout, which after watching these teams for so long comes as a surprise. The Vikings are the 21st ranked defense according to PFF and 21st in coverage more specifically. The Lions are averaging 35.5 points per game which is good enough for T-2nd in the NFL, but they are also allowing 32.5 points per game. I can see Jared Goff lucking into a couple of TD’s by way of the players around him making incredible plays.
RB
Most Expensive: Jonathan Taylor: $9,400
My Pick: Dameon Pierce: $5,800
The Chicago Bears are who we thought they were. Week 1 was a massive fluke in the middle of a monsoon. The Bears rank as the 3rd worst rushing defense in the league and also the 4th worst tackling team, according to PFF. Pierce went from a 29% snap count in week 1 up to 62% in week 2 . He also went from 11 carries up to 15 and looked to be the main focal point in the backfield for the majority of the game. Against such a bad defense and for this low of an asking price, Pierce has the best bang for your buck potential.
WR
Most Expensive: Cooper Kupp $9,800
My Pick: Drake London: $6,200
Please help us find Kyle Pitts; he is clearly missing. Until he is found and returned home, Drake London is essentially the only target in Atlanta. He has more than double the amount of receptions than the 2nd pass catcher and nearly double the amount of targets. In week 2 alone, London had 12 targets while the second best on Atlanta had only 3. On top of this, the Seattle defense is bottom 3 in overall, coverage, and tackling defense. Drake could once again see the majority of his team targets and out touch everyone else in the passing game.
TE
Most Expensive: Travis Kelce: $7,800
My Pick: Gerald Everett: $5,800
This one is simple. If Herbert plays, which is likely, Everett has the best chance, besides Kelce and Andrews, to score a TD. As long as Joe Lombardi is calling plays for the Chargers offense, Everett will be used in the short game and more than likely used in the red zone. These odds get even better if Keenan Allen sits out once more. Everett has a good shot at being the breakout TE of the year like Robert Tonyan in 2020.
DEF
Most Expensive: Baltimore Ravens: $5,000
My Pick: Philadelphia Eagles: $4,000
The Eagles have the 4th ranked coverage defense so far according to PFF. Carson Wentz is still Carson Wentz and has 3 total interceptions on the year. The Eagles allowed only 7 points to a capable Vikings team last week but 35 to the Lions. I believe that says more about the Lions than it does about the Eagles. They are a very scary defense and rely on capitalizing off of other teams turnovers. Their offense is designed to keep other teams off the field to force them into riskier situations. I am confident the eagles can force some mistakes by Wentz.
