WEEK 10: WAIVER WIRE

Every Tuesday, I will be bringing to light the best potential waiver wire additions across fantasy football. Let’s begin with some basic principles for each article and some of the qualifiers that will be used each week. First off, the minimum rostered percentage threshold that I will be using is 33.3%, so any player that is rostered in ESPN leagues above that percentage will not be written about (until near the end of the season when it gets harder to wade through the constantly thinning waiver wire.) Second, not all waiver wire additions are created equal and all are dependent on the roster you have. Each week I will be writing about players and the potential they bring to your fantasy roster, but I obviously don’t know who is on your team or what you may need in terms of roster construction. If I say a quarterback is the top waiver wire addition for the week, and you have Patrick Mahomes, that doesn’t mean you need to add that player to your team while dropping a potentially valuable player in order to do so. Third, I will frequently be using the abbreviation FAB, which refers to Free Agent Budget. This refers to the potential amount you might spend to acquire someone off the waiver wire if your league has that as a part of their system.

Eno Benjamin- Running Back, ARI

ESPN Roster Percentage- 0.1%

Another result of injury roulette saw Cardinals lead back Chase Edmonds suffer a high ankle sprain after just one snap on Sunday, resulting in the monster game for James Conner. Eno Benjamin was the de-facto backup to Conner, and he performed well in an emergency role. Benjamin saw a 24% snap share and an equal share of rushing attempts in the game. With Edmonds likely out multiple weeks and Conner slotting in as the new lead back, Eno Benjamin will be in line to see a decent amount of work for one of the league's best offenses. This isn’t a pick up and place into your lineup add but more of a depth add in case another injury occurs; we have seen James Conner struggle to stay healthy at times in the past. Benjamin is nothing more than a speculative add and isn’t worth the high-end waiver priority add or a small FAB bid.

Tennessee Titans D/ST

ESPN Roster Percentage- 8.0%

Normally I don’t recommend using a waiver wire addition on a defense, but the Tennessee Titans have been on an absolute tear over the last three weeks, scoring 17 fantasy points on average against the Chiefs, Colts and Rams. The Titans have stepped up their pressure by causing havoc in the opponent’s backfield, sacking the quarterback 10 times during this streak and forcing 8 turnovers on top of that. The Titans face a New Orleans Saints team that struggled to score for 50+ minutes against the Falcons on Sunday as well as having some uncertainty about who will be the Saints starting quarterback going forward following the Jameis Winston injury. The Titans could be worthy of starting through Week 11 seeing as they play the Texans after this week's matchup, making them worth a higher end waiver wire priority add. I would also feel comfortable with a small single-digit FAB bid, but nothing extreme.
