WEEK 4: START OF THE WEEK

START 'EM

MILES SANDERS RB

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS @ PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

So, Marvin Jones Jr. didn’t have a super great boom of a performance last week but he didn’t bust either. Let’s call that a wash for now and speaking of washing, I'm going to need to be washing all the money that Maurice wins from betting on the start of the week because the player that has been selected for this week is primed to do well not only due to my gut intuition and the insistence of Maurice that I make sure he does(He thinks I have some control over that which is why I think he has so much money on it,) but also because much like any protagonist in a survival death game (see Squid Game, Alice in Borderland, the Hunger Games, etc.) the odds are in their favor. Let me break it down for you as to why the start of the week player is going to one lucky individual in the City of Brotherly Love, Miles Sanders.

Miles Sanders hasn't had a great year so far but he did show out in week 1 against a bad defense in the Falcons and has since faced two decent defenses in weeks 2 and 3. The Eagles stalled against the 49ers and then got absolutely trounced by the Cowboys on Monday night, however, I expect this week to be quite the opposite from that because Kansas City is their opponent. Despite Kansas City being one of the potential Super Bowl candidates going into the year, they are 1-2 mostly due to their defense. I understand they are coming off a divisional loss against the Chargers where they didn't play well, so they most likely have something to prove; the argument to my point would be they’re going to smash Philadelphia and get ahead so Philadelphia will have to abandon the run game much like they did against the Cowboys. However, the Chiefs run defense is so bad (how bad are they?) that any running back has a chance against them, and here's some numbers to back that up.

Kansas City has allowed the most rushing touchdowns this year with 7, they have allowed 30 first downs to the running back position which is the most in the NFL, they've allowed the second most yards with 481 and they are tied for second for the most yards per carry allowed with opponents getting 5.4 yards per carry. They are also tied for second in opponents scoring percentage with their opponents scoring on 50% of their drives, so every time the Eagles get on the field, there's a 50-50 shot they're going to get in the end zone.

I expect the Eagles are going to “flush week 3 and move on” in order to have a bounce-back game and Kansas City might not struggle as much as they have had but there are still going to be opportunities for Philadelphia to be in this game. I don’t think Kansas City will lose another for a while, but look for Miles Sanders to perform up to the standards of the start of the week in week 4!
