AARON'S WAIVER WIRE PICKUP - WEEK 9

Washington Football Team- D/ST

For the 2nd time this year, I have broken one of my personal rules: recommending a defense as a waiver wire priority. As much as I love to bash the Washington Football Team and their team name of nothingness, they have one of the league’s best defenses. They are a top 5 defense in total yards allowed and top 12 in PPG allowed. They also have the 6th most sacks in the league, despite 3 of the team’s ahead of them on that list having played an extra game. Their schedule in the next 4 weeks includes matchups against the New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys. All 3 of those teams have struggled this year offensively and, with the exception of the Lions, don’t look to have a promising resurgence on the horizon. They do have a matchup with the Bengals mixed in between the Lions and Cowboys, but I think that the Bengals are a sneaky good matchup with the pressure Washington’s D-line creates and the lack of talent on the O-line for the Bengals. Overall, I think that they could be a pickup that will benefit fantasy rosters not just for this week but potentially for multiple weeks to come.
