AARON'S MOST INTRIGUING MATCHUPS
Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tennessee Titans
This game is a mid-season battle to see which team can claim the title as the last undefeated AFC team, so of course I have to talk about it. The Steelers have gotten to this point on the back of their outstanding defense and big plays from their offense, recently from standout rookie Chase Claypool. Over the last 2 games, he's totaled 11 receptions, 184 receiving yards and 5 total TDs. He has been unleashed, and it allows the other players on offense to take advantage of matchups which has led to back to back weeks of scoring 38 points for the Steelers as a whole. The defense is built off of insane amounts of pressure and the injury to Devin Bush could prove to be a key one, but I still expect them to continue blitzing and playing that typical Steelers defense. The Titans, on the other hand, have been an explosive offense led by Derrick Henry and Ryan Tannehill. Henry looks like the best RB in the NFL and Tannehill is starting to show that last year wasn’t a fluke. Getting A.J. Brown back and the breakout of Jonnu Smith has made this offense a legit threat. Their defense, however, has not looked as sharp as expected. They’ve allowed 30+ points in 3 games already, and it doesn’t seem to be related to anything other than poor play. This should be the most interesting matchup of Week 7 by far and will be the game that keeps the most of my attention in an action-packed week.
Seattle Seahawks @ Arizona Cardinals
OFFENSE, OFFENSE, and more OFFENSE. These teams are two of the best in the NFL at scoring points, and I don’t think we should expect anything different in this matchup. Russell Wilson has been playing at an MVP caliber to this point and has done so by airing it out. As he is so lovingly referred to by the Fantasy DayDreamers as “Filet Wilson”, this man has been cookin’ and doesn’t look to be slowing down. On the other sideline, Kyler Murray is showing us the true athleticism he possesses and that he still has room to improve and grow as a passer. The offense has still been able to get the job done, and the defense is much improved compared to last year. While I think that part of this is a result of the who’s been on their schedule to this point, it still shows that they are playing better and using advantageous matchups in their favor. The Seahawks defense hasn’t been able to stop anything, and I truly mean anything. They are the worst team in the league in total yards allowed and some of that may be a result of opposing teams playing catchup, but at some point, they need to be able to make stops. This game is my prediction for the highest point total on the week and with the restructuring of the schedule putting this game on Sunday night, I think it’s a perfect way to cap off Week 7.
