IAN'S WAIVER WIRE PICKUP - WEEK 5
Damien Harris- New England Patriots RB
Bill Belichick has been downright abusive towards his running backs over the years. Consistently BB has shown that each running back has a specific purpose and they must serve that purpose, otherwise they are out. Sony Michel is having an injury issue with his quad and James White is only trusted with pass catching duties. Rex Burkhead seems to come in once in a blue moon and do something, but it's not sustainable. That’s where Damien Harris enters; he showed us last week he is the one they want running the ball. He lead the team in carries with 17 for 100 yards rushing. Unfortunately, he didn’t score, but he did see the bulk of the redzone work. With Cam Newton sidelined with COVID and Sony Michel being inconsistent and injured, it looks like it is Harris’ backfield to lose. I do believe he would have scored if the officials had not ruled Patrick Mahomes down when he fumbled in the redzone in the second quarter. Harris caught a lot of buzz in the preseason as the a special talent, and in his first game he showed it. With how uncertain this season has been from injuries to Covid shenanigans, Harris is worthy of a bench stash and could be a late season flyer to help give you that playoff push.
